ZIMBABWE: Although we all know about the recent political leadership change in Zimbabwe, the circumstances at grassroot level are still very challenging. Rev Charles Juro, the General Secretary of our sister church, the RCZ (Reformed Church in Zimbabwe) sent as the following e-mail:

“Dear Brothers and Sisters
Warm greetings to everyone in the wonderful name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. I want to take this opportunity to wish each one of us in the Dutch Reformed Family a wonderful year where God will lead us in the path of righteousness.
My family is fine in a new era without the Republican leader. We anticipate good things ahead though there is still much to attend to. The situation of the Church has not yet changed. We are still in a serious financial fix. Our members still can not tithe nor pay Sunday offering since there is no cash.

The issue of plastic money does apply only to selected groups who are employed but those out of employment can’t enjoy the facility, hence the need for real cash remains paramount. So operations are challenged in a number of ways.

So far we have received less rainfall and indication to possibilities of severe drought are very high.
We need your prayers in the sustainability of the Church in this difficult environment.
Let’s pray that we live to impact our various churches positively.
I wish you all the best as you dischare of your responsibilities in 2018
May God bless you all
Yours in Christ
Rev Charless Juro”
